FAQs

About Medicare Insurance in North Jersey

  • When is the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)?

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 7th to December 15th each year. During this time, you can review your current coverage, make changes to your Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription plans, or switch between plans to better fit your needs for the upcoming year.

  • When should I apply for Medicare Insurance in NJ?

Your Initial Enrollment Period begins 3 months before your 65th birthday and lasts 7 months. Enrolling early helps avoid delays in coverage. BEW can help walk you through every step.

  • What’s the difference between Medigap and Medicare Advantage?

Medigap (aka Medicare Supplement) works with Original Medicare to reduce out-of-pocket costs. Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with an all-in-one plan that may include dental, vision, and hearing.

  • Can I switch Medicare plans later?

Yes! During the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15–Dec 7), you can change your Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. You may also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if you retire, move, or lose group coverage.

  • What if I already have coverage through an employer or union?

We’ll help compare your group plan with Medicare options to ensure you get the best coverage without overpaying.
